I guess we will start this off with the police finding
the body of Jane Doe in Canyon Lake, Texas on February 25, 1993.There are so many
unanswered question involving this case that I hope you will bare with me. It was my understanding that police CANNOT touch a body or crime scene until the medical examiner has came to the scene and pronounced
them dead. If this is the case, then why didn't the medical examiner make a physical appearance at the scene of the crime
where Jane Doe was found? We were told that he pronounced her dead over the phone. Now, how can anyone know if someone is
dead until they examine the body personally. NOT BY PHONE!! Can
you imagine ,as a parent, finding out that your daughter wasn't even important enough for this man to even come to the scene
of the crime like he was supposed to? Larry
Kearny who works with the county road crew found the body of Jane Doe as they were clearing brush and debris from a bad storm
the night before. The police were then called. The
following list is of the officers that were called to the scene of the crime where Jane Doe was found and the times they arrived.Case#9301164(This also change once that they identified Jane
Doe as Emily Garcia.R. Poindexter(PR307)-arrived at the scene at 11:08 a.m.M. Davis(DM338-arrived at the scene at 11:10 a.m.C. Davis(DC333)-arrived at
the scene at 11:29 a. M. Sgt.
David Ott(ODB05) assigned to this case as the lead
investigator. The sheriff in 1993 was Bob Holder,
but that changed in 1994 and the sheriff then was Jack Bremer. Justice Of The
Peace at the time was Howard(Curley) Smith.Chief Deputy at the time was Elwood
HoherzThe Texas Rangers also were assigned to work on this case, but once they
had identified the body as that if Emily, they no longer worked the case. Why? This doesn't make any sense that you would
use the Texas Rangers on a case only until the body was identified. Didn't anyone want to know who murdered Emily? Was she
not as important as Jane Doe? Another thing for Emily's mother to have to deal with on top of Emily's death was the disrespect
that has been shown toward Emily at times. No parent would want to find out these things.Crime Stoppers also offered a reward for anyone who could help
identify the Jane Doe, but once they found out that it was indeed Emily Garcia, they no longer offered the reward. We were
told that this was due to Det. Sgt. Tommy Ward(who has been the investigating officer for the past 8 years) not allowing them
to offer the reward. Every time we seem to ask a question it keeps going back to the fact that Det. Sgt. Ward refused to let
anyone else work on this case or even help. You will see as you read on, that several professional people that Sheila and
I have contacted over the years have been willing to help with Emily's case, only
to be told NO by Det. Sgt. Ward. WHY???It seems to
me that he would want all the help he can get where maybe they would be able to finally solve this case, so why is he refusing
to let anyone else help??? We also don't understand why Emily 's case hasn't been placed in the Cold Case files, due to the
fact that it has been nearly 14 years since her murder and still unsolved. This would have helped us so much, because once
a case is placed in the Cold Case files, anyone can work on it and they don't have to have permission from the investigating
officer(Det. Sgt. Tommy Ward). Again, the reason that Emily's case hasn't been placed in
Cold Case files is because Det. Sgt. Tommy Ward will not allow it. WHY????Greg Butrico(18 years old
at that time), was the person sent by Zoeller's funeral home to transport Jane Doe to Austin, Texas where an autopsy would
be preformed. He later told us that it was the very first time he had ever transported a body and he was very nervous
and terribly affected by it.There was another person with him when the body was picked up, but we haven't been able to find
out who. All we are told is that he no longer works for Zoeller's Funeral Home. Greg Butrico took a sheet and covered Jane
Doe's nude body. Why wasn't it already covered instead of just laying there for all to look at. It was bad enough having to
die at the hands of some monster who did this to her, but they could have at least covered her up.Sheriff Bob Holder then
released the body and Mr. Butrico transported Jame Doe to Austin, Texas for the autopsy. Dr. Robert Bayardo(Travis County
Medical Examiner) was the man who performed the autopsy. This man has been very nice and has answered some of the questions
we have had, but not all and we are still seeking answers to those questions. The
following is a list of news media who reported on the Jane Doe case.Robert Stewart from the Times Guardian in Canyon Lake, Texas Gary
P. Carrol and Greg Mefford of the Herald in New Braunfels, TexasChannel 12-KSAT News.
